Her back is straight and her head is nicely in line with her spine. But we'd like to see the arms getting up quicker and leading the way out front a bit sooner. |

Notice the toes on the edge of the
platform and the legs are now extending as the elastic rubber-band
effect of the squatting is now launching the swimmer up. If only the
arms and hands were up into position to lead the way up. This slowness
in getting the arms into place has allowed a little leaning to take
place. The leaning takes time away from the immediate advantage of the
snap of the jumping muscles. There is a window of time that is most effective for the elastic energy buildup and that is between .20 and .35 seconds. |
